Once you're under your parachute you'll be falling at roughly 14-16ft per second. We use square parachutes though (see the previous question, if you've not already) so you will be shown how to "flare" these parachutes for a soft landing. If you get the technique right you will have a soft stand up landing however you will be trained how to fall on landing should you need to
